Snow Daze

It is past my comprehension that there is a global warming crisis.  While glaciers may be melting somewhere on a computer generated movie, it is cold enough in Telluride to freeze fire.  Just walking across the street causes the snot in your nose to freeze all the way into your cerebral cortex.  Yes, it is beautiful in the mountains with all the snow glistening in the sun, but that is the BIG deception.  Beautiful does not make one warm and right now - I need WARM.  I can not believe it is only the middle of February, which means approximately two and a half more months of sub freezing temperatures and chance of snow on a daily basis.  What, of what, am I to do.  I'll tell you what I am to do - find a hot tub (anyone's will do), climb in with my thermals on, and read War and Peace from cover to cover.  Happy Valentine's Day!

Single parenthood

Ever wonder why it takes two to create a baby?  Because parents are supposed to come in pairs.  Single parenting is for people who have money to hire other people to take care of their children!!  I am not one of those people.  I am a person who enjoys peace and quiet during long evening car rides and a long hot bath on occasional nights, while reading something other than princess stories.  This, however, is not my reality.  Single parenthood is akin to running a marathon in a blizzard with a 50 pound backpack strapped on to your front.  I would like to request a change of life  - is that possible?  I love my children - a lot.  But honestly, why do teachers give homework to children with only one parent - it is NOT FAIR.  I do not know why paying attention to the details will give you a better idea of the main topic, nor do I care.  And since my third grader also does not know or care, what is the point???  Okay, I have completely digressed.  The point is:  I want my husband back!!!!

Sisters book

Since Ann and Lori are the only people who read this, I am going to put this on here and get your ideas.  I am thinking the three of us need to write a collaborative book titled:  The Truly Exaggerated Lives of the Jones Girls.  Maybe other sisters would read it and laugh out loud as I seem to do everytime I have some type of liquid in my mouth.  I also pee my pants - which is embarrassing, but only you two know about it!

Still updating

I wanted to add cute and witty captions to each picture below, however, I am still a blogging "nube" and was not able to figure out how to go back and do that.  I will get it - by 3:30 this morning!  Addie's snowman was created at school with lots and lots of mushy, gooey papier mache.  It was a fun day to walk into her class and have the teacher ask if I had any time I could spare!  She also wrote a story about it.  The Christmas kids includes the B-E-A-utiful tree that we used this year.  It was a lovely thing to behold with its quasi-Victorian theme and purple/silver/white color scheme.  Those colors just SCREAM Christmas!  It served its purpose, however, as Santa delivered his gifts and ate the cookies (the imaginary cookies, as someone forgot to actually set them out).  The family picture is the one that will be included in our annual - to arrive sometime in July - Christmas DVD.  It is 90% finished, but I haven't the energy to complete, burn and send.  Someday!

A few new pictures

Late nights/Early mornings

Yes, it is 1:39 am and I am finally updating my blog.  I was asleep, then I woke up and remembered I had forgotten to renew my auto insurance, then I couldn't do that because I lost my driver's license and now I am thinking I will never sleep because I can't figure out how to renew my auto insurance without my driver's license and WHEN will I get to Montrose during 8-5 (closed 12 -1) to get it???  Life on the mesa, complete with snowmobile excursions at 6:30 in the morning, has its challenges.  I am contemplating the life of a hermit.  If I give up the car - no car insurance necessary.  Then, I can have a great excuse not to go anywhere, therefore, relinquishing all responsibility to the outside world.  I could blog all day - giving very meaningful responses to the millions of people who currently have time to update their blogs quite often!  Of course, I have at least one child who might protest, as she is quite certain she needs to have a social life or she will stop breathing.  I also have this ridiculous need to eat - therefore, I must either hunt (completely out of the question) or go grocery shopping - therefore, reinstating the need for a car, and therefore, the need for auto insurance - and a driver's license.  HMMMM, what to do?  Read a book and hope it is boring enough to put me to sleep by 4:30, so I at least get a quick cat-nap before the alarm shocks me back into reality at 5.

First ski club day of 2008

This is Addie and Ella - see them smile!  They are on their way to ski!  Addie informed me she will kick some serious snow bunny bum this year on the slopes, as she goes for the "Double Black Diamond" runs.
